Welcome to our Open Events webpage where you can find out about all the exciting opportunities that we have available for year 6 students and their families to learn about and explore our school.
Please feel free to watch Mr Gerrard’s introduction below, where he outlined what we had planned…
On the 27th September, between 5pm and 7pm, we opened our doors to prospective students and their families so that they could have a look around and meet some of our staff and students.
If you missed our open evening event and would like to visit the school, then please email Lynn Jones to request a tour.
There is also a lot of useful information about the school on this website, including videos and virtual tours so that you can get a feel for the school. Just use the links below to get an idea of what we do here at Ysgol Aberconwy.

Student Support
Ysgol Aberconwy has well established arrangements for identifying and providing for individual students’ additional learning needs. It is our policy to assess students’ needs as early as possible.
After careful diagnostic testing, students follow individually tailored programmes. Where students have needs which require the co-operation of outside agencies, it is the responsibility of the ALNCO to make the necessary contacts.
During all stages in the provision for a student’s additional learning needs, we seek to work closely with parents, and emphasise the importance of good working relationships between the school and home.
Ysgol Aberconwy supports and promotes the education of all children, including the specific needs of Looked After Children. The member of staff responsible for this area is Mrs Jessica Meredydd.
The school employs a team of teaching assistants that work on a 1:1 basis with individual students, small group work as well as providing intervention programmes.
The school houses the Conwy Centre for Dyslexia, ABCD. The teacher responsible for this area is Helen Samuel. Please contact the school for further information.
The school also houses ‘Tegfan‘ the County’s provision for students with ASD and neurodevelopmental difficulties. There are two teachers and a team of teaching assistants working in this area.
We have a specialist inclusion centre called ‘Y Ganolfan’ that is well resourced including sensory equipment and a state of the art acoustic POD as well as 1:1 support and group work. Students also have access to therapeutic support from a qualified counsellor.
Please note that the school is fully accessible for students with disabilities.
