Shakespeare in the Castle

A small group of year 8 and 9 students recently attended a performance of ‘Twelfth Night’ by the Duke’s Theatre Company at Conwy Castle.

The weather was fantastic and the venue provided the perfect backdrop for the outdoor performance. All the students had a wonderful time and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. Members of the public even commented on how wonderful it was to see a group of teenagers so enthusiastic about Shakespeare!

Deputy Head of English, Bethan Hughes said, “Shakespeare’s plays teach us about ourselves and humanity. Despite being a romantic comedy, ‘Twelfth Night’ shows us the multitudes of love and the pain it can cause.  By viewing live performances students get the chance to appreciate the language and stagecraft of Shakespeare, which prepares them for their GCSE in English Literature and at this performance they laughed a lot along the way!”
