Majorettes' competition winners

Pupils from Ysgol Aberconwy were thrilled to triumph in the recent majorettes’ Premier Dance Association Championships held in Prestatyn.

Competing as the Penmaenmawr Solitaires, Year 11 pupils, Natasha Lloyd-Roberts, Emily Shenton, Sophie Jones, Aimee Jones and Lauren Krol had previously finished second in the championship but were delighted to twirl their way to the top spot as outright winners in the Senior - Intermediate category having seen off teams from all over the U.K. They also finished in the top spot of Division 1.

“We were really nervous before we went on and while we were performing because there was such a lot of pressure on us,” the girls said, “But it was amazing to win, the best feeling ever.”

Adding to the success of the day, there was further good news for two members of the troupe as Natasha Lloyd-Roberts was named Best Leader and Emily Shenton was awarded Best Dancer. Many congratulations to them all.
