Ysgol Aberconwy has just won the \u2018Best Secondary School\u2019 award at the North Wales Educational Awards!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

These awards, presented on behalf of the Free Press, the Journal and the Pioneer, honour the achievements of teachers and students across Conwy and Denbighshire, celebrating their commitment and contribution to their schools and to educational initiatives within their community.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Breaking with the usual tradition of an awards ceremony, this year the awards were presented in the schools themselves. Headteacher Ian Gerrard, along with a group of excited Ysgol Aberconwy students, were presented with the award, he said, \u201cI am delighted to receive this reward on behalf of the whole school community.\u00a0 It is a testament to the hard work of all the staff, students and governors at the school as well as those in the wider community who support the school in so many ways.\u00a0 We work tirelessly to try to give children an outstanding education and to create a happy, inclusive and dynamic learning community that inspires, supports and challenges everyone \u2013 it is lovely when that hard work is recognised in awards such as this, but also as we see the children we work with flourish and develop in to confident, kind and thoughtful young people.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sixth Form student Amelia said, \u201cIt\u2019s an amazing achievement, the hard work everyone puts into it, the opportunities we\u2019ve had throughout the school, I\u2019ve had six, seven years here now and it\u2019s been absolutely amazing.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Parents were generous in their praise too, with one nomination stating, \u201dYsgol Aberconwy is an amazing school that puts its pupils first. My son has had a lot of health problems since he started and they have been absolutely unbelievable. Amazing! They have helped so much that it\u2019s made such a difference to his life, and education. I can\u2019t even mention all they have done as there is just so much.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
