{"id":8446,"date":"2024-08-22T10:17:37","date_gmt":"2024-08-22T09:17:37","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.aberconwy.conwy.sch.uk\/?p=8446"},"modified":"2024-08-22T10:18:18","modified_gmt":"2024-08-22T09:18:18","slug":"ysgol-aberconwy-celebrates-gcse-success","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.aberconwy.conwy.sch.uk\/en_gb\/2024\/08\/22\/ysgol-aberconwy-celebrates-gcse-success\/","title":{"rendered":"Ysgol Aberconwy Celebrates GCSE Success\u00a0"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Ysgol Aberconwy students and staff are celebrating impressive GCSE results once again with students successfully gaining entry into their chosen next step of advanced study, apprenticeship or career pathway.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Amongst the many successes celebrated by students and their families, special congratulations go to Nell Shannon [7 A* &amp; 4 A], Harry Senior [7A*, 3 A &amp; 1 B], Amy Mann [5 A*, 4 A &amp; 2 B], Sion Bailey [3A*, 5A, 2B &amp; 1C], Katy Harris [3A*, 5A, 2B] and Isla Shackleton [3A* &amp; 8A].&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Tom Hogg who is joining the Welsh Guards in September said, \u201cThanks to Aberconwy I have been able to develop as a person and I will definitely use the skills I have learned here in the future.\u201d&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Lola Weston said, \u201cDespite the challenges it\u2019s all worked out.\u201d Nicole Abdi agrees, \u201cFive years of hard work are officially over!\u201d&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Special mention must be made of the outstanding achievements in Welsh GCSE.&nbsp; Following the school\u2019s achievements as the first secondary school in the region to achieve the Siarter Iaith Cymraeg Campus Uwchradd award, one third of our year 11 cohort have achieved an A* or A grade at GCSE. Gaynor Murphy, Assistant Headteacher, said \u201cWe are incredibly proud of all our students and staff. These results are a testament to the school\u2019s commitment to celebrating our language and culture\u201d&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Headteacher Ian Gerrard congratulated all students and staff on their results. He said, \u201cI\u2019m delighted in the achievements of our students this year.&nbsp; This year group were just starting secondary school when \u2018lockdowns\u2019 began, and they have had to show a huge amount of resilience, perseverance and dedication since then to achieve these excellent results.
