On the 31st March 2023, 45 students and 5 members of staff made their journey by coach and ferry to Paris. Since this was our school\u2019s first trip to Paris since pre-Covid times, we invited language students from years 9-13. The purpose of our trip was to allow pupils to immerse themselves in the language and culture France has to offer, and of course to have fun!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The trip included nearly 2 days of travel, during which we were extremely lucky to avoid long delays at Dover, which unfortunately many schools experienced during the Easter break. We also spent a day in Paris city centre and a day at Eurodisney. Our excursions in the city included a walk up to the 2nd floor of the Eiffel Tower and for our braver pupils a lift ride to the summit. We then enjoyed eating lunch on the banks of the beautiful river Seine, followed by a guided Bateau Parisien tour, and finally a shopping trip to the Champs Elys\u00e9es, where Mr Jacobsen couldn\u2019t resist breaking into song with his favourite record Les Champs-Elys\u00e9es by Joe Dassin. Eurodisney was a big hit with everybody thanks to the hair-raising rides, the colourful Disney characters, the wonderful array of Disney souvenirs and the range of food on offer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The accommodation during our stay was located at the spectacular resort of Ch\u00e2teau de Grande Romaine on the outskirts of Paris. This is a beautiful setting which has previously been a training ground for the French national football team. As well as a variety of hot and cold meals, including Les escargots, pupils enjoyed activities every evening, including the photo challenge, a French quiz and a cr\u00eape soir\u00e9e. It was a delight to see students engaging in these activities and the teamwork they showed was fantastic.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A memorable time was had by all during our Parisian trip and the students were an absolute credit to the school. We all could have done with a little more sleep on the whole, but the fun we had far outweighed the lack of sleep! A huge well done to all of the students who went and a massive thank you to the staff as well.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
