A selection of Ysgol Aberconwy students have been showing their fantastic artwork at an exhibition in the Conwy Culture Centre in an exhibition called Carneddau Voices.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Students, assisted by local artist Rachel Evans, developed artworks inspired by the mythology, farming traditions and folklore of the Carneddau mountains located in the Snowdonia National Park.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Students created sketchbooks with pages shaped to echo the curves of corlannau (sheepfolds). Illustrations of nodau clust (sheep ear-markings) developed into decorative collage, before evolving again to form the scales of the grotesque fish of haunted Llyn Dulyn. Print work was inspired by the the ancient owl and other animals in the tales of Cwm Cowlyd. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Artist Rachel Evans said, “It has been wonderful to be part of this process and I am grateful to the Carneddau Landscape Partnership, Conwy Culture Centre and Ysgol Aberconwy for their support throughout. As well as prompting delightful artwork, the project has fostered a recognition of personal connections to the Carneddau.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

If you haven’t seen it already, there is still time to view the Carneddau Voices exhibition at the Conwy Culture Centre (community room). The exhibition will be moving on soon, so don’t miss the opportunity to see this wonderful collaborative artwork by students of Ysgol Aberconwy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
