The school prepares all students to enter public examinations and all students sit examinations as appropriate. In Years 7 – 9 students sit personalised assessments to gauge their numeracy and literacy skills. Fom year 10 onwards students will complete assessments and examinations for the GCSE subjects they are studying. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
National Numeracy & Literacy Tests for Years 7 – 9 (Personalised Assessments)<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n Personalised assessments are statutory for learners in Years 2 to 9 in maintained schools in Wales. They are scheduled for one week in December and one week in June.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Personalised assessments are taken on-line and are adaptive, meaning that questions are selected based on the responses to previous questions. This provides a tailored assessment experience for each learner and will help all learners develop their skills through understanding what they can do, the things they may need to work on, and their next steps. Year 11 students sit mock examinations during the Autumn Term before completing their final exams in the Summer Term. If a student has studied a subject and been entered on an examination, it is the responsibility of the parent\/guardian to ensure they attend school and sit it. Should a student miss the examination without a justifiable reason (agreed by the Headteacher) the entry fee must be paid by the parent.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Public Examinations<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n Last year\u2019s results are distributed when the Government Tables of Examinations results are published. You must give your permission to us before we can apply on your behalf. We must also receive the fee from you before we apply.<\/p>\n\n\n\n These are the options:<\/p>\n\n\n\n Please see the ‘fees list<\/a>‘, ‘Candidate consent form’ and ‘Access to scripts form<\/a>‘.<\/p>\n\n\n\n These must be completed and returned to the Exam Officer with payment so the request can be made to the exam board.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The forms will also be available on Results Day.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\n Certificates<\/p>\n\t\t\t The results sheets you receive on Results Day are NOT your actual certificates.<\/p>\n\n\n\n If you have any queries about your results, please contact your subject teacher as soon as possible.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Examination Boards send the certificates to us in November \/December following the summer Exam season.<\/p>\n\n\n\n GCSE and A-Level certificates from the Summer 2025 period will be available for collection in January 2026.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n Students collecting their GCSE and AS \/A Level certificates will be asked to sign for them – all certificates must be signed for.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Students that are not returning to school can\u00a0collect their certificates in person from the school reception or nominate somebody to collect their certificates on their behalf. Please contact the Exam Officer<\/a> by email if you which to nominate somebody else to collect.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Under regulations, we are authorised to keep certificates for a minimum of 12 months from the date of issue. After 12 month, any unclaimed certificates can then be destroyed in a confidential manner.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Certificates are valuable documents as they are the official record of exam results and should be looked after carefully. The school cannot provide replacements if they are lost; you must request replacements from the exam boards directly, for which they charge a fee.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n
