Studying French in Conwy

On a bright and sunny Tuesday, 8th July, Miss Hughes’ Year 8 French class enjoyed a fantastic day out exploring the historic town of Conwy. As part of their language and cultural studies, students had the unique opportunity to visit the Guild Hall, where they were warmly welcomed by the Mayor of Conwy. The Mayor, who took time to speak with the students, was impressed with their obvious interest and excellent behaviour.

The trip continued with a tour of the iconic Conwy Castle, giving pupils a chance to learn more about Welsh heritage and history in an immersive way. They also visited St Mary’s Church, taking in the beautiful architecture and discovering more about the town’s rich past.

To tie in with their French studies, the class finished the day by labelling a map of Conwy entirely in French – from une maison médiévale to un pub and un cimitière. The sunny weather added to the enjoyment, and the pupils thoroughly appreciated this unique and educational experience.

We are proud of the way our students represented the school and grateful to all who helped make the day a success.
