In fantastic news, we would like to share that Year Twelve student Aleena has been awarded with the First Sea Lord Challenge Coin! This impressive gift was given to her by the new First Sea Lord General Gwyn Jenkins, who started serving in the role earlier this year.
The First Sea Lord heads the Royal Navy and sits on the Defence Council of the United Kingdom. Receiving a Challenge Coin as a token from someone of such a high rank is an honour. Aleena earned hers after a year as a First Sea Lord Cadet.
Aleena’s dedication to her position as a Sea Cadet has resulted in other medals and opportunities, including recently being invited to Downing Street where she was able to meet Larry the cat! While in London, Aleena was invited to visit the Ministry of Defence and tour the Henry VIII Wine Cellar hidden away beneath the building. She was met by the Commander of the Royal Navy Cadet Forces, Brigadier Ged Salzano, who talked with her and listened to her input regarding improvements to the Cadet forces. We are impressed to see one of our students already making such mighty waves in the adult world and look forward to seeing where she sets sail for next!
