Massive congratulations to Year 7 student Sienna, who has become a triple North Wales Champion in the long jump, shot put, and 100m sprint.
Since moving into a new age-group category on 1st April, Sienna has competed in several meets and competitions. Despite being one of the younger athletes in the Under-14 category, she has already achieved fantastic results across sprinting, long jump, and shot put.
Sienna’s first meet took place in Trafford on 5th April, where she achieved 3rd place in shot put with a new personal best (PB), 3rd place in the 200m sprint with another PB, and 4th place in the long jump.
A week later, on 12th April, Sienna competed in the North Wales Junior Open event in Colwyn Bay, where she claimed 1st place in the 100m sprint with a new PB and also finished 3rd in the long jump, setting yet another personal best.
On 24th April, Sienna was selected to represent Ysgol Aberconwy at the Welsh Schools Athletics competition. She delivered an outstanding performance, finishing 1st in both the long jump and 100m sprint, which earned her selection to represent Conwy County in Treborth.
Representing Conwy on 1st May, Sienna achieved 1st place in the 100m sprint, 1st place in the long jump, and 3rd place in shot put. These impressive performances secured her qualification to represent Eryri in Aberdare this July.
Sienna then returned to Trafford on 4th May for her second meet, competing in the 100m sprint, long jump, and shot put. She claimed 1st place in the 100m sprint, improving her PB from 13.50 seconds to 13.12 seconds, as well as 1st place in shot put and 2nd place in the long jump, missing the top spot by just 1cm.
Her incredible run of success continued on 9th May at the North Wales Outdoor Track and Field Championships in Bangor. She smashed her shot put PB, improving from 7.19m to 7.61m to take 1st place. She also broke her long jump PB, leaping from 4.36m to 4.62m, again securing 1st place. In between her long jump attempts, she also competed in the 100m sprint, where she claimed yet another 1st place finish.
These outstanding performances completed an amazing hat-trick of North Wales titles and secured Sienna’s place at the Inter Regional Championships in Aberdare this June.
More recently Sienna has had another busy weekend of competitions held all over Wales, she now ranks 2nd in Wales in the women U14’s Long Jump, 100m and 60m!
Sienna’s hard work and dedication are clearly paying off. Well done, Sienna, on these fantastic achievements! We look forward to following your progress and wish you every success in Aberdare this June.
