Welsh Logo Competition Winner

We are delighted to announce that Angharad, one of our Year 12 students, has won the Welsh Government’s nationwide competition to design a logo for the new secondary schools’ Siarter Iaith!

The competition was fierce with over 100 entrants but Angharad’s design was chosen! Angharad was then given the opportunity to work with a professional designer on her logo, which will now be used nationwide and feature on all documentation and materials for the secondary schools’ Siarter Iaith.

Angharad’s win was announced at the Eisteddfod yr Urdd Maldwyn 2024 on Wednesday, May 29th where she was congratulated in the Welsh Government’s tent during the launch ceremony for the new secondary schools’ Siarter Iaith.

Angharad will be presented with her prize by representatives of the Welsh Government at our Welsh Open Day on June 25th, when we will open our doors to local primary schools and other secondary schools in North Wales to show how we piloted the Welsh Language Charter for secondary schools and earned our Siarter Iaith Bronze award. We also hope to receive the Siarter Iaith Cymraeg Campus Uwchradd Silver award at this event!

Luned Davies Parry, Deputy Head of the Welsh Department and the Secondary Cymraeg Campus Language Charter Coordinator said, “We are extremely proud of Angharad’s accomplishments in creating a logo that will be used on a national level for years to come, and we are delighted to have the opportunity to celebrate her success with her at our Welsh Open Day.”
