Our Sixth Form is open to anybody who we believe we can offer a genuine progression route towards the next level of their education. Being a member of The Sixth Form is very different from being a pupil in Year 11. Your studies will be very different, teacher relationships will be very different and you will have much more freedom. However, you will be expected to work hard and we will have high expectations of you in and out of lessons.
On entering the Sixth Form you will be able to take advantage of our purpose-built facilities. These include a completely refurbished Common Room and a state-of-the-art, purpose-built Sixth Form study suite to enable you to have a successful and happy time for the next two years.
Applications to join this coming year's intake for the Ysgol Aberconwy Sixth Form should be made early - i.e. no later than Friday, 10th February - as demand is high and there is a limit to the number of students the Sixth Form can accommodate. In September you will begin with an induction program to prepare you for life in the Sixth Form. This will introduce you to your specialist facilities and the study techniques required for Sixth Formers. It will also allow time for making new friends and re-acquainting yourself with old ones. Class sizes are much smaller and you will receive much more individual attention. You will also benefit from a specialist Sixth Form Guidance Mentor to help you reach your full potential. We will closely monitor your progress to ensure that you maximise your abilities.
We want you to stay in school and to get the best possible qualifications. We believe our Sixth Form can be the best bridge to University, advanced college courses or employment. You already know the teachers and you will receive the support and back-up that only a school can offer. As part of a school you can also take a full part in the music, drama, sporting and outdoor activities that regularly take place as well as joining the trips and visits. Positions of responsibility are also available for Sixth Formers.
